Fire Protection Engineer (Intermediate/Senior)
Sydney, NSW
$120k-$160k

Feel like your development is hindering?
Is management, projects, and red tape slowing you down?

We get it…

I speak to hundreds of engineers just like you-engineers who feel ready for that senior title, to drive projects forward, but there just isn't quite the opportunity to do so.

That can all change.

My client is a well-respected engineering consultancy that has predominantly focused on growing the business in the civil & structural space (with a small hydraulic & fire team in place). They've seen huge success across Australia, growing the business to 175 people across 6 states in just 13 years.
Now, they're looking to expand their services:
"Ok, growing business, entering a new space-but what actually makes this opportunity different?"

Management:
The leader of the services team is highly respected across the hydraulic and fire spaces. Whether that's through teaching diplomas at colleges across NSW, driving well-respected consultancies forward through new business opportunities (from their early stages), or building hyper-successful internal project teams.

Projects:
They've been established across Australia long enough to be the go-to consultants for repeat clients. But they're also fresh and agile enough to be pursuing new, growing spaces. We're talking live projects from Tier 1 data centres to high-rise residential/mixed-use buildings, commercial, industrial, and healthcare-safe to say they've diversified!

Culture:
The culture of the business is unique. They don't promote based on tenure but when engineers are truly ready to take on the challenge. They've built their business on the foundation of 'just being good people', and this philosophy transcends across the organisation. They put their employees first, up-skilling at every opportunity through accreditations (yes, FPAS support!), regular performance reviews, and pay reviews throughout the year. It's no surprise that people tend to stick around, with an average tenure 1.5 years above the market rate!

The Role & Opportunity:
Okay, enough about them-let's talk about you.

You'll join the team and instantly have access to a solid pipeline of projects. Alongside your manager, you'll attend regular client visits, networking events, and get familiar with their client base. Projects will be handed to you, and with the close support of management, you'll deliver them. We expect you to earn that senior title within the first year (if you're already at that level, even better!). These clients will then become your own-along with account management responsibilities and autonomy in how you deliver the work. Don't worry, though-you'll be supported by a junior engineer who reports directly to you.

The plans for services are huge, and as the business grows, you will too. In no time, you could be the Fire Team Lead of a tier-2 consultancy.

What we're looking for:
Ideally, you're from a consulting background with 3-5 years of experience and already starting to lead your own smaller projects. You're comfortable using software like Pyrosim, Revit, and Bluebeam, and have a solid understanding of local codes and compliance. You'll also be comfortable attending client meetings, site visits, and have strong report-writing and documentation skills.
